All landlords (especially those who have a secured loan against their property) must ensure that the property is covered by a buildings insurance policy. It is advisable that this policy also covers contents and furnishings. It is also strongly advised that Landlords apply for some form of Legal Protection Insurance to cover their legal costs in disputes that may arise with Tenants. The relevant insurance company must be notified of your intention to let the premises since your Insurance cover could be compromised. We recommend that Occupiers Liability should be provided within the contents policy in case of injury to the Tenant.
